Long Count

A city under the long sky. Venus rises and falls on the Dresden beat. Water, maize, knowledge, people, and faith in the future. Civilizations forget how to build what they once built. The game asks what you refuse to forget.

The sky was already a calendar.

You steward a Classic-period city, a living system under a sky someone already learned to count.

Civilizations forget. Egypt forgot pyramid craft and how to read its own signs. Maya cities reorganized; knowledge fled into other forms. Entropy is craft that no one renews.

Meters are blunt on purpose. The game asks what long-horizon attention costs when the short term screams. Venus is a public clock. You choose how loudly to hear it.

From the first sacred hymns we can still name, Venus tables, and the work of reaching other planets, the same instruction: restoration after forgetting. Pay attention.

Any civilization that loses faith in the future will die. Exploring the stars is an exciting future that you can believe in.

Elon Musk, on faith in the future

…ancient Egypt, where they were able to build these incredible pyramids, and then they basically forgot how to build pyramids. And then even hieroglyphics, they forgot how to read hieroglyphics… entropy is not on your side.

What happened to humanity?

The Great Pyramid’s geometry has long invited a 42° reading in this chronicle. Stone that still holds a sky angle after the living language of a people thins. Forgetting is lost relation to what the technique was for.

Drought

Water memory under a hard sky.
