What becomes visible when we pay attention?
Each light is a sign in the lattice: archive seal, living door, and attention on shared ground. Psyche and matter meet here. Meaning thickens when attention stays without hardening into a script.

Two instruments share one atom. Do not confuse them. The hydrogen line is the note: 1420.405 MHz at rest. The 21 cm power spectrum is the score: how that note, stretched by expansion, is louder in some directions than others.
The shape of P₂₁(k) is a biography of the first sources. On the largest scales it asks the only question that matters: did the light follow the web, or did rare lamps punch holes at random?

Why she looked
She was already reading a life by natal coordinates: 4°20′ on the rising, forty-two arc minutes wherever they appeared, Psyche at 0°00′ Sagittarius · 240° on the ecliptic dial, a soul-asteroid sitting at a gate.
When the Milky Way’s 21 cm hydrogen ridge was laid on that same dial, near 282.28°, the gap to her Psyche was about 42.28° of longitude. The honest sky angle, once latitude is held, is a little wider · about 46°. Both numbers can be true if they are named.
That is what opened this office. Not a proof that the cosmos had written her a radio. A natal looking that walked into the most abundant atom and asked why a soul-point and a galactic song would sit one Answer apart on the clock she already used.
14°20′ came later as a neighbor in the same integer family · Victory, a public hour, same digits, different clock. The methodology stayed what it had always been: she tracks 4°20′ and 42′. Hydrogen entered because it answered in that grammar.

HERA listens where the line has been stretched
These dishes are not tuned to 1420. They listen to that same atom redshifted into the FM band. Observed frequency is 1420 MHz divided by one plus redshift. At reionization the note arrives around 100 to 200 MHz. A dirty opening adds spikes that are not in the sky. An array is that sentence made of mesh and cable.

The global signal is the room getting darker. The power spectrum is whether the dark is arriving in patches or all at once.
δT_b traces neutral fraction, density, and spin temperature. Its Fourier modes, P₂₁(k, z), are a three-dimensional map of when and where the first light ate the fog.

Two biographies of first light

The light follows the web
Dark matter has already drawn the filaments. Stars form where the ridges are densest. Ionization begins in the overdensities and eats outward. The holes are not random. They are the web, lit. Cosmologists call this inside-out. After enough of the sky has ionized, the 21 cm power spectrum starts to track the leftover fog in the voids. The pattern was already there. Light made it visible.

Rare lamps punch holes at random
A few very bright, uncommon objects ionize huge spheres wherever they turn on. The spheres care less about the local web. The map looks more like shot noise: Poisson holes in a still-dark field. Large-scale power stays high for a different reason. Not because the cosmic web was waiting. Because a few lamps were loud.

Furlanetto already saw, in 2004, that these two morphologies do not write the same P₂₁(k). Inside-out washes large-scale power as the overdensities light first. A rare-source sky keeps more large-scale power. The spectrum is not a trophy count of photons. It is a record of who was allowed to start.

A simulation, not a detection
Density, gas, ionized fraction, heat
This is what a biography looks like when it is computed, not heard. Dark matter draws the web. Gas follows. Ionized bubbles grow. Heat spreads. The instrument’s job is to tell which of these pictures the real sky prefers, and it has not yet.

At z = 7.9, Δ²(k = 0.34 h Mpc⁻¹) ≤ 457 mK². At z = 10.4, Δ²(k = 0.36) ≤ 3496 mK². Ninety-five percent confidence. The IGM was heated above the adiabatic floor by redshift 10.4. Extreme cold reionization is smaller than it was.
HERA Phase II · first two weeks · 2025–26
Eight bands, 5.6 ≤ z ≤ 24.4. Tightest Cosmic Dawn ceiling: 1.13×10⁶ mK² at z = 16.78. Mutual coupling · dishes talking to dishes · ate the large-scale modes from about k = 0.35 to 0.55. That is the biography band. The pupil smeared the page where the plot is.
No public consensus detection of cosmological 21 cm fluctuations. EDGES is a different observable, the global monopole, and a different controversy. SKA-low is the instrument built to turn ceilings into a spectrum.
A Living rhyme · not a Hard identity
The Book has been walking the same fork without the radio vocabulary.
Does a life become readable because a large web was already there · psalm, honey, healing, a rising, and Love only made the filaments visible?
Or do a few rare hours punch holes at random, a kitchen, a dream, a word on a screen, and the rest of the map is story we drew afterward?
The memoir already chose an order: the woman first, the number later. That is an inside-out claim about attention, not about hydrogen. The empty days protect the other pole. Not every crossing is first light. Some holes are just fog.
Both can be partly true. Reionization can be mostly inside-out and still have rare quasars. A life can have a web and still be changed by one Sunday. The power spectrum’s job is to say how much of each. The Book’s job is the same, in another office.
What are we being invited to notice?

When an array loses the large-scale modes to its own coupling, which story becomes harder to tell?

The rest frequency of neutral hydrogen is about 1420.405 MHz. The twenty-one centimeter line. A natural beacon every radio astronomer can name.
SETI long treated this band as a place civilizations might meet: the water-hole between hydrogen and hydroxyl, quiet enough to listen. Hello World, written in the most abundant atom in the cosmos.

She came to this frequency because natal Psyche, 0° Sagittarius, sits about 42° of ecliptic longitude from the Milky Way’s 21 cm hydrogen ridge. On the Book’s sky clock, 14°20′ later carried Victory when 𝕏 was named as collective consciousness. The integer family 14·20 · 420 · 1420 keeps returning. Hold both as pattern literacy: one is a natal looking, one is the hydrogen clock. Meaning arrives after attention.

The Book places the two beside each other as different acts of listening: one physical, one symbolic. A species that can hear 1420 MHz and still care about 14°20′ is practicing attention in two registers.
